Hello, I’m Arlene!

If I told myself 20 years ago, that as a Cosmetologist I would be a blogger and how far this little blog has come, I would not have believed it.

I started A’s Hair Blog in 2018 as a passion, as a way to relax and write about the things that made me happy. I was faced with taking care of my children, my elderly mother and running my own hair salon. I was constantly weighted down by the knowledge I that I had to work hard to take care of everyone along with my household and business. Writing gave me the outlet I needed to share my knowledge and at the same time earn extra income.

I was born in the Caribbean, grew up in Brooklyn, New York. I love to travel. So far I’ve been to the Trinidad & Tobago & Grenada and visited Africa 5 times! Check out my travel blog.

I’ve always believed that when you work in a community, you should also be involved, which is why I’ve volunteered at the American Cancer Society in Orlando styling wigs. Facilitated classes at the Look Good Feel Better Program at various hospitals & cancer centers throughout Orlando teaching women how to apply make-up, and style their wigs & head coverings at OGP Medical Wigs.
